About Wood Floor Report

Wood Floor Report is an independent cost and decision resource for wood floor refinishing. It is operated by Compass Camper LLC, an Oregon marketing and lead generation company. The site does two things. It publishes sourced, dated figures about what wood floor work costs and how it works. And it connects homeowners who are ready to hire with independent, licensed flooring contractors.

How the site makes money

When you send a quote request through a form on this site, your details go to one independent licensed flooring contractor who works in your ZIP code. That contractor pays us a fee for the introduction. The homeowner never pays us anything. The guidance on this site is free to read, with no account and no email list.

What the site is not

We are not a contractor. Nobody who works on this site sands or finishes floors. And no sentence here should read as if we do. We do not employ, certify, rank, or rate contractors. We do not publish reviews of them. We do not sell flooring, finishes, or tools, and there are no affiliate links on this site. If any of that changes, this page changes first.

Where the numbers come from

Every figure on this site traces to a named source, read on a stated date. The sources are cost publishers, the finish makers' own data sheets, the USDA Forest Products Laboratory, National Wood Flooring Association public guidance, and safety agencies. A second pass re-checked every source before anything went live. The full method, including what we refuse to publish, is on the methodology page. If a figure looks wrong, the contact page says how to report it. A correction gets checked against the source, then fixed or explained.
